Our beloved Frederic Fils-Aimé was born September 10, 1948, in Morne A Chandelles, Haiti. He was a lantern of light in the Haitian community, greeting every sunrise with a song in his heart and a prayer on his lips.

His journey on this earth was full of love, and he was a dedicated family man. A devoted husband to his wife, Gladys, since 1975, and a loving father to Marie, Fredson, and the late Gregory and Frederic Jr. His legacy will continue to thrive through his grandchildren, Tyannah, Fa'Saiyah, Colee, Ameleah, and Jasmine. Frederic leaves behind a large and loving family, including his siblings, Mariella, Sainvalia, Elizane, Fritz, Therese, Jean Lucien, Joseph, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren whom he loved as his own.

Frederic was a learned man, educated with distinction at Ecole Normale Superieur from 1971 to 1975 and later at Kean College University; Frederic was an individual who cherished the power of knowledge. His devotion to education was evident in his tenure as a dedicated teacher and his receipt of the lauded Teacher of the Year award. He was a beacon of consistency, recognized for maintaining perfect attendance for an entire decade in the Essex County School district. Yet, it was his soulful songs that truly made him a pillar of the community. Known for his top-selling gospel music soundtrack, he led the choir at Our Lady Help Of Christians for decades; in addition, he led the Grand Cathedral choir in NJ and NY on multiple occasions, including the grandest stage the New Year's Day Masses and even headlined gospel concerts as the star Performer.

A man of many talents, Frederic had a deep love for music. His life was a resounding symphony, filled with the harmonious strains of songwriting and composing melodies. His fingers danced on the strings of his guitar and the keys of his piano with a grace that was uniquely his own. His music touched the hearts of many, and his passion for the art form was unmistakable, creating music that echoed his faith and passion. And when he was not crafting soul-stirring hymns, he was reading, tuning into the Haitian AM radio, or finding joy in the thrills and camaraderie of the beautiful game of soccer.

To describe Frederic Fils-Aimé is to speak of a loving, faith-filled, and passionate man. His love for the Lord was as deep and vast as the sea, and he lived his faith with a burning passion. His life was a testament to the words of Saint Augustine, "To sing is to pray twice." His music was his prayer, and he shared this prayer with all who had the privilege to hear him.

As we mourn the loss of our dear brother, we also celebrate a well-lived life that touched many with its unwavering faith, beautiful melodies, and ardent love. Frederic Fils-Aimé, in his kindness and humility, lived the Gospel daily, and through his music, he helped us all hear God's voice.

So let us raise our voices now, not in sorrow but in joy and gratitude for having known such a man. For the echoes of his melodies will always live in our hearts. Frederic Fils-Aimé, our brother in faith and song, has ended his earthly journey. Yet, we know that he continues to sing with the angels, his songs are now part of the heavenly chorus. And as he looks down upon us, may we all strive to live with the same faith, passion, and love that defined his life.

In the words of the Psalmist, "I will sing of the Lord's great love forever; with my mouth, I will make your faithfulness known through all generations." (Psalm 89:1). Like King David, my Father Frederic spent his life singing of the Lord's great love. Now, it falls to us to continue the song. Let us honor his memory by living our faith in love and harmony as he did. For my father, Frederic Fils-Aimé is not gone. He lives on in every melody, prayer, and heart he touched with his love and music.
