Fred Davis, 85, of Phenix City, AL passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at his residence under the gentle care of hospice.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, April 29, 2013, at Stafford Road Church of Christ, 11025 Lee County Road 240 Phenix City, AL 36870, with Steve Barnes, Minister, officiating. Mr. Davis' grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 613 14th Street, Phenix City, AL.

Mr. Davis was born January 12, 1928, in Crenshaw County, AL, son of James C. Davis and Clara Motes Davis. He was a retired manager of Colonial and Big Star grocery stores after 32 years. Later he became the owner of Pick a Pak grocery store in Columbus. He was an avid gardener and loved being outside in nature.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Era Bunn and Mae Berdeaux, and his brother, Rufus Davis.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years Virginia Davis, children, James Randolph "Randy" Davis (Beth), daughter, Janice Davis Crenshaw (Jimmy) and Ronnie Davis (Sarah), two sisters, Libby Russell and Emma Boyd all of Phenix City Al, nine grandchildren, Michelle Davis Price, Adam Davis, Elizabeth Davis, Amanda Davis Ingram, Brian Davis and James Crenshaw, II, Jamie Taylor, Alicia Bales and Michele Ripple, 22 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to Columbus Hospice House 7020 Moon Rd. Columbus, GA 31909
