Francis J. Sanders, 83, of Columbus, GA died Monday, October 18, 2010 at Vista Care Hospice at Franciscan Woods.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Vernon Prather officiating. Interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Sanders was born November 21, 1926 in Harris County, GA daughter of the late Otis Otto and Cora Pearl Jackson. She was the Co-Owner of Sanders Grocery on 27th St. and a member of Kirkland Memorial Baptist Church. She enjoyed walking her dog, Buddy, and enjoyed doing yard work and her flowers. She also enjoyed picking pecans and playing cards. She was a mother figure to the neighborhood and loved her church family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Leon Sanders and her son, Raymond Sanders.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Sanders Casler (Norman E.) and Tillie Sanders Barentine both of Columbus, GA, six sisters, Mary Ruth Peterson, Otis Pearl "Cooter" Van Winkle, Arminda Crook, Helen Holmes McGawin, Rose Ellen Ennis and Billie Marie Toland, and one granddaughter, Tiffany D. Casler.
