Frankie was born in Atlanta, GA on August 5, 1940, daughter of the late Fred Ward and Frances Rantin Ward. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ralph Tyrrell Freed and raised three wonderful children, together. Frankie was co-founder and owner of the Rankin Deli in Uptown Columbus for many years, and a residential realtor as well. She was a volunteer at the Springer Opera House, active in various civic clubs and a member of the Sunshine class at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Frankie enjoyed traveling, and touring the US and Europe. She was an avid gardener, bridge player as well as a "gourmet" cook. Frankie was a generous friend to many who will miss her dearly. Her true love was spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Ralph Tyrrell Freed; her children, Dr. Cindy "Bit" Freed of Warm Springs, GA, Frances "Missy" Fuller, and T. Ward "Dooney" Freed both of Columbus, GA; Grandchildren, Melissa Granberry (Jon), Molly Frances Fuller, Cain Fuller; Great-Grandchildren, Maddie Hickman and Skylar Psalmond. She is also survived by one Sister, Rose Maree Ogle (Leon); and Uncle Horace "Buster" Rantin; Aunt Carolyn Hodges of Atlanta, GA; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge the heroic efforts of Dr. Charles Anderson at the St. Francis Heart Hospital. Columbus is very fortunate to have Dr. Anderson.
