Flora Joyce Powell Whitehead Kendrick of Phenix City, AL passed Friday, April 18, 2014 at Columbus Specialty Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 21, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Golden Acres Baptist Church, Phenix City, AL, with Pastor Mike Lewis Greer officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens, Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at Golden Acres Baptist Church, according to Colonial Funeral Home, 613 14th Street, Phenix City, AL. 36867.
Mrs. Kendrick was born April 12, 1935 in Thomaston, GA., daughter of the late William Guy Powell and Flora Elizabeth Russell Powell. Mrs. Kendrick retired in 1997 from Bibb Manufacturing Company after 34 years of service and was a charter member of Golden Acres Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Parker Earl Whitehead, brother, Lewis Powell and a step-daughter Rebecca Bedgood.
Survivors include her husband, William Walter Kendrick; two daughters, Brenda Sue Bryant, Alexandria, AL and Reba W. Burch (Robert), Dacula,GA; one son, Edward Earl Whitehead, Phenix City, AL; two sisters, Joan E. Vickery, Stockbridge, GA and Sandra I. Parker, West Point, GA; one brother, Larry G. Powell , Columbus, GA; a stepdaughter, Susan Funderburk (Larry), Phenix City, AL. ; 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted but those who wish may make memorial contributions to Golden Acres Baptist Church or Shady Woods Church.
