Felton Brady Preston, 85, of Box Springs, GA died Thursday, January 23, 2014 at his residence.



Graveside Services will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, January 27, 2014 at Parkhill Cemetery with Chaplain Mark Chandler officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3:00-5:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.



Brady was born in Midland, GA on May 4th, 1928. He was raised and preceded in death by his grandmother, Cynthia Rena Roberts. He was also preceded in death by Wynnette Skipper Preston, wife of 45 years, Gloria Perry Preston, wife of 17 years, brother, Billy Preston of Houston, TX, and brother, James Lewis Preston of Columbus, GA.



After enlisting at the age of 17 , Brady served proudly in the United States Air Force for 3 years. He also served 3 more years in the United States Navy as a Seabee and a deep sea diver. Afterwards he returned to Columbus where he married and started a family. He worked as a heavy equipment operator until opening Preston and Son Feed and Seed in Geneva, GA in 1975. He was owner/operator until his retirement in 1995. During his life he was involved in many community bettering organizations.



He was a 32nd degree Master Mason raised in Midland Lodge 144 and received his 50 year Apron in 2007. He was also a long serving member of the Scottish Rite and Columbus Shrine Club. During his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family and growing tomatoes just so he could give them away.



Brady is survived by 4 siblings: Robert Preston (Mary Ray) of Houston, TX, David Bartles of Columbia, SC, Mary Ann Prestly of Columbus, GA, and Rachel Landro of Houston, TX. He is survived by 7 children: Cynthia Collins (Lynn) of Box Springs, GA, Steve Preston (Nora) of LaGrange, GA, Ted Preston (Cindy) of Box Springs, GA, Margie Mcgarr (Steve) of Phenix City, AL, Charles Charter (Angie) of Shiloh, GA, Margie Fare (John) of Savannah, GA, and Alan Perry (Pat) of Columbus, GA. Brady is survived by 14 grandchildren and an abundance of great-grandchildren all who love him dearly.
