Ewell P. Austin 79, of Phenix City, AL died Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Concord Baptist Church with Rev. Bud Passmore and Rev. Doug Casey officiating. Interment will be held in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00PM Wednesday at the church according to Colonial Funeral Home 613 14th Street Phenix City, Al.
Mr. Austin was born January 28, 1935 in Troy, Al., son of the late Alec Harvey and Lillie Roberts Austin. Mr. Austin was a member of Concord Baptist Church and the G.W. Sunday School Class. He was a Dirt Track Stock Car racer, Auto Mechanic , Security Guard for Waggoners Trucking and loved Alabama Football, Braves Baseball, and John Wayne Movies.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ruth S. Austin of Phenix City, AL; three daughters, Cynthia Bradley of Phenix City, AL, Cay Tice (Danny) and Debbie Wester (Jay) both of Salem, AL; son, Lamar Austin (Kim) of Statesville, North Carolina; six grandchildren, James Bradley, Anna Elswick (Mark), Laura Jones (Stuart), Allyson Carter (Jonathan), Ashleigh Tidwell (Pat), Lindsay Bradley (Eddie); four great-grandchildren, Leighton Bradley, Marissa Bradley, Candice Jones, and Jakob Bradley.
