Evelyn Shirley Reed, 89 of Columbus, died Friday March 22, 2019 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. A visitation will be held 6-8 PM Monday, March 25, 2019 at the funeral home.
Evelyn was born November 16, 1929 in Wrenshall, Minnesota daughter of the late Fred Hammitt and Mary Pelz Hammitt. Evelyn worked for Southern Foods for 10 years but being a homemaker to her family was her main goal.
Evelyn was a great painter, artist, she loved religious music, shopping, was excellent on computers especially her iPad but hated her cell phone.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Reed and her five siblings.
Survivors include her daughters, Donna Reed of Columbus, Debra J. Reed of Dothan, Al., Cathy N. Sparks (Mark) of Tampa Fl., son, Donald Reed (Roberta) of Hamilton Ga., eight grandchildren 12 great grandchildren four great great grandchildren and numerous nieces nephews and other family members.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make contributions to your favorite charity.
