Evelyn N. Ogburn, 84 of Smiths, AL passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at her home surrounded by beloved family members.
Graveside services will be held 11 A.M., Monday, October 3, 2011 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Dr. Mike Knowles officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home, 613 14th St. Phenix City, AL.
Mrs. Ogburn was born July 30, 1927 in Blakely, GA daughter of the late Jimmy Rebecca Brownlee Nobles and Sam Nobles. She was a homemaker and married to James A. Ogburn for 51 years before he passed away. During that time she supported their family as they traveled the world while he served in the U. S. Army. Evelyn possessed unmatched strength and dignity with an unwavering moral compass. She valued relationships, especially her family. Above all else she was a true matriarch. This beloved woman's presence will be greatly missed, but she will live in the hearts and minds of family and friends whose loives she so positively impacted.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen O. Huntley (Bruce) of Anacortes, WA; sons, Richard A. Ogburn of Smiths, AL and L. Keith Ogburn (Grace) of Orange, CA; sisters, Dorothy Kindon and Alice Faye West (Larry) all of Warner Robins, GA; brother, Leonard Nobles (Emily) of Americus, GA; grandchildren, LeAnn Edmonds-Horton (Donovan), David Huntley(Teresa), Jamie King (Matt), Becki Ogburn (George Hilas), Tim Ogburn (Casey), Jackson Ogburn and Lucas Ogburn; great grandchildren, Lauren and Hayley Edmonds and Caden and Colten Huntley and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Vista Care Hospice, 3615 S. Railroad Street, Phenix City, AL 36867
