Essie Mae Weed, 86, of Midland, GA died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at her residence with her children by her side.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Rusty Sowell officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 to 7 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Weed was born June 8, 1923 in Phenix City, AL daughter of the late Roy T. Britton, Sr. and Lelia Mae Bivens Britton. She was a homemaker and member of Providence Baptist Church in Opelika, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert E. Weed, Sr.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Simmons of Midland, GA, son, Bobby Weed (Kathy) of Seminole, FL, grandchildren, Scott Simmons (Paula), Shannon Harrelson (JJ), Elizabeth Weed and Daniel Weed, great grandchildren, Hannah Simmons and Hunter Simmons, sister, Viola Davis of Seminole, FL, and brother, Tommy Britton (Emily) of Opelika, AL.
