Essie Margaret Lambert Cope, 80, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Doctors Hospital.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. There will be a private Graveside service Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Fort Benning Main Post Cemetery with Reverend David Howle officiating, according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Cope was born October 21, 1932 in Lampasas, TX daughter of the late Clifford Louis Lambert and Voyce Gilbreath Lambert. She was a homemaker and a school crossing guard for the Muscogee County School District for many years. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Joseph Cope, Sr. and sons, Robert Charles Cope and Baby Cope.
Survivors include her children, Charles Joseph Cope, Jr. (Mimi) of TyTy, GA, Linda Ruth Cope and David Allen Cope both of Columbus, GA and Norma Jean Fair (Mark) of Phenix City, AL, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, siblings, Clifford Lambert, Jr. and Cathy Gilley (Jerry), James Lambert (Doris), and several nieces and nephews.
