Erika Rawls

Erika “Jacquie” Rawls passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025. Jacquie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a friend to many.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 2, 2025 at Trinity Episcopal Church, located at 1130 First Ave, Columbus, GA, 31901. A reception will follow in the church hall according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

She was born in Worms, Germany in 1930, and moved to Columbus, GA in 1953 with her husband Sam. Jacquie and Sam were enthusiastic supporters of the Columbus community, including local arts and culture. They were also proud supporters of the brave men and women of the military who serve to protect our country. Jacquie was known for her elegant style, a passion for theater and the arts, and her love of tennis, which she played competitively for years. On the tennis court, Jacquie was a fierce competitor, and off the court, she was a fierce friend.

Jacquie is survived by her sisters, Ulla and Linda; nieces Melanie, Bärbel, and Daniella; nephews Thomas and Robert; daughters-in-law Janet and Brooke; grandchildren, Erik and Meagan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; sons, Robin and Kevin; siblings Hildegard and Heinz Willi.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Schwob School of Music in memory of Sam and Jacquie Rawls.
