Erika Mullins, a beacon of warmth and selflessness, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025, in Columbus, Georgia. Born on March 8, 1944, in Czechoslovakia to Mathias Bauch and Elenore Novotny Bauch, Erika’s early years were spent in Germany. Her journey through life was marked by her loving spirit and nurturing disposition, qualities that endeared her to all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 20, 2025, in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907.

Erika’s educational pursuits led her to a technical school, where she honed her skills to become an accomplished administrative assistant. However, her life took a romantic turn when she met her future husband, a serviceman stationed in Germany. Embracing the role of an Army wife, Erika’s supportive nature shone brightly as she accompanied her husband to various duty stations, creating a loving home wherever they were posted.

Settling in Columbus, GA, Erika’s talents as a skilled seamstress were soon recognized. Her meticulous work and dedication to her craft led her to take pride in her roles with Arco and All American Uniforms, where she remained until her well-deserved retirement. Her colleagues at work not only respected Erika for her professionalism but also cherished her for her kindness and eagerness to lend a helping hand.

Erika’s passions extended beyond the professional sphere. She was an avid gardener, finding joy in the simple pleasure of tending to her plants and flowers. Her garden was a testament to her patience and care, much like every other aspect of her life. A voracious reader and always keen to stay abreast of current events, Erika was well-informed and enjoyed engaging in thoughtful discussions with friends and family.

In the kitchen, Erika was unmatched. She loved cooking and was renowned for her culinary prowess, often preparing meals that brought comfort and joy to those she loved. Her ability to create delicious dishes was just another way she expressed her love and care for others.

Above all, Erika was a passionate grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she devoted herself to their happiness and well-being. The time she spent with them was filled with laughter, learning, and love. Her legacy of kindness and selflessness will undoubtedly live on through them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alger B. Mullins; her sisters, Marianne McNeill and Luise Hieber; and her brother, Herbert Anger.
