Era Florence Barber, 101, of Columbus, Georgia passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 peacefully at her home.
Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m. (C.S.T.) Monday, August 29, 2016 at Old Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Dothan, Al. with the Elder Micky Smith officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Ga.
Ms. Barber was born December 29, 1914 in Geneva County, Al. daughter of the late Mark and Minnie Graham Barber. Although Ms. Barber was currently living in Columbus, Ga., her home was always in Dothan, Al. It was there that she worked and retired after 36 years from the Dothan News.
She loved her family, friends, neighbors and her 12 special nieces and nephews. She also had a great love for her church and church family. She was the last surviving member of Old Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church and honorary member of Mt. Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church. God gave Era Barber a wonderful and long life. She will fondly be remembered for her sweet spirit, green thumb and famous peanut brittle.
Survivors include Twelve nieces, nephews and their families.
