Emma Reinhardt Wire, 90, of Columbus, GA, died Sunday, December 3, 2017 at her residence.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 6:00-8:00PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. A private burial will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
Mrs. Wire was born November 10, 1927, in Aidlingen, Germany daughter of the late Otto Reinhardt and Emma Wagner Reinhardt. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who instilled wisdom and values in her family. Mrs. Wire was a unique lady with a rich history. She trained in Swimming and Track and Field for the Olympics before WWII, and was a survivor of the bombing of Germany during WWII.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Albert M. Wire; two siblings, Hilda Wagner Junger and Herman Reinhardt.
Survivors include her three children, Harry Wire (Elena) of LaGrange, GA, Jimmy Wire (girlfriend, Kim Sherrer) and Herman Wire all of Columbus, GA; brother, Otto Reinhardt of Germany; two grandchildren, Alexis Wire Raley (Braxton) and Ryan Wire (Joanna), three great-grandchildren, Logan, Asher and Madden; and many other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her memory to P.A.W.S. of Columbus, GA.
