Emily Robinson Evans, age 24, died June 9, 2020 in a motorcycle accident in Phenix City, Alabama. A native of Suwanee, Georgia, she was a graduate of Peachtree Ridge High School and a student at Columbus State University, where she was pursuing her degree in secondary education and was on the Dean's List. She was creative, intelligent, generous, and spirited. She pursued her interests and goals with passion: animal rescue and fostering, caring for her dogs and cats, and motorcycle ridingamong them. She had just gotten a Brittany puppy she planned to train and show.
Emily is survived by her mother and brother, Jane Keegan and Nicholas Evans of Suwanee, GA; by her father, Matthew Evans of Cumming, GA; and by her fiancé, Matthew Shafer of Smith's Station, AL. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Robert and Mary Ellen Taubenheim. She is further survived by her aunts Mary (Frank) Fisk of Lawrenceville, GA and Ann Taubenheim of Columbia, MD. She will be missed by dear friends Georgann Smith, Chi Xiong, and Meilan Barnes, by her friends at Picasso's in Columbus where she worked, and by many others in the Columbus community and beyond whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be held at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2020. A private memorial service will be held.
