Elizabeth "Bess" Rivers Dedwylder 28, of Columbus, Georgia died Sunday, October 31, 2021 at her residence.

A celebration of life for Bess will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Trinity Episcopal Church 1130 First Ave. Columbus, Georgia 31901 with Rev. Timothy H. Graham, Rector officiating. A private Entombment will be held. The family will receive friends at a reception following the services at the church.

Born in Columbus on September 1, 1993, she attended St. Anne Catholic School and Columbus High School, graduating in 2012. She then attended Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA and graduated in 2017 with a B.S. in Child and Family Development with a concentration in Family Services. An intelligent, independent and strong-willed young woman, Bess was able to achieve her dream of living in New York City for 3 years.  While there, she started her career as a medical staff recruiter and continued her career after returning home to Columbus a year ago.

Bess was truly delight personified. She had a ready smile and laugh and never met a stranger, with the rare gift of making whoever she was with feel like they were the most important and special person in the world. She was a true “foodie” and fun-lover. She relished traveling and had visited many countries and recently returned from an incredible trip to Africa with her family and uncle. She loved spending time with people of all ages from infants to elderly. Above all, she was a loyal and loving friend who was cherished for her contagious happy spirit.

She was predeceased by her maternal grand-parents Al and Bettye Caproni, and paternal grand-parents Rozier and Martha Dedwylder.

She leaves behind her adoring parents, John and Bitsy Dedwylder, a much-loved and respected older brother, Davis Dedwylder of Paraguay; her maternal aunt Valerie Caproni of New York City; uncle Al Caproni (Ruth) of Atlanta; paternal uncle Rozier Dedwylder, MD, of King George, VA, and a multitude of cousins and friends, all of whom will sorely miss the light that Bess was in this world.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Center of Hope, 2906 Bynum Leatherwood Rd, Anniston, AL 36201 or Trinity Episcopal Church 1130 1st Ave, Columbus, GA 31901, or a charity of your choice.
