Elizabeth Ann Steen died peacefully at home surrounded by family members on March 4, 2021.
Graveside services will be held Monday, March 8, 2021 at 2:00 PM EST at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Georgia 31907. Mrs. Steen was born April 7, 1935 in Ludlow, Mississippi to the late Emma Ray and Milton Hawthorne. She was a devoted mother to her two children and dedicated wife to her beloved late husband of nearly sixty-five years, Mr. Isaac (Ike) Steen. The wife of a decorated serviceman, she was a proud American and true Southern lady. She was an avid sewer and reader and could often be found cooking large meals for her family or watching old Western movies. Her many passions included traveling and interior decorating. She looked forward to her Saturday shopping trips and often made a fashion statement with her unique personal style. She loved to laugh and especially enjoyed a good joke, one of the many reasons why her marriage to fun-loving Mr. Steen was so successful.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Steen is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Hawthorne.
She is survived by son Mike Steen and daughter Teresa Renfrow (Tom), grandson Lance Renfrow (Cassie), granddaughter Heather Renfrow, and great grandsons Luke Renfrow and Nathan Renfrow, as well as her cherished cockatoo, Jo Baby. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
