Eleanor Kizzie Gilmer, 85, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at her residence in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Don Wilhite and Pastor Ricky Smith officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. A private interment will be at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, GA. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, those attending the funeral service will be required to wear a face mask and social distancing will be in effect. Eleanor was born September 11, 1934 in Columbus, GA to the late James Weatherly Gilmer and Myrtle Cobb Gilmer. She worked at the Department of Education and was in charge of Public Relation Publications and was the editor of FFA Magazine. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA where she sang in the choir. She was everyone's favorite Aunt, was a UGA graduate and loved to watch UGA football and her Atlanta Braves. Eleanor loved to travel and had visited most countries. She was also a member of the Atlanta Passion Play in Atlanta, GA. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her sister, Patty Gilmer Wright.
She is survived by her brothers, Jud Gilmer of Pine Mountain, GA, Rusty Gilmer (Linda) of Box Springs, GA, numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
