Elaine Carter DeMarco, 83, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at The Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ed Wilson officiating. A private interment will be held on Monday, July 26, 2010 at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. according to the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. DeMarco was born June 14, 1927 in Jackson Co., GA daughter of the late Lissie Clayton Carter and Daisy Bailey Carter. In her early professional career, she became the Executive Assistant to the Vice President of RCA in Atlanta, GA. Later in her life, she was a business leader in Columbus through the Chattahoochee Valley Fair where she was employed from 1968 until 1999. The last five years she served as the General Manager.
Elaine was involved with many civic groups from the Muscular Dystrophy Association to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbus, from the Future Farmers of America to the Future Homemakers of America, from the Carver Elementary PTA to the Band Boosters for Rothchild Jr. High, Arnold Jr. High and Columbus High School. Elaine was a member of just about every club and association in town including being the past President of the Professional Secretaries Association, past President of the Quota Club, board member of Columbus Boys and Girls Club, Red Hat Ladies, Columbus Garden Club, Columbus Womenâ
