Elaine Marie Barge Byrnside, 86, of Columbus passed away of natural causes Tuesday, Oct 27, 2020,surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Byrnside was a devout and lifelong member of the Lutheran church and a fifty-year member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Columbus.

Born in Truman, MN in 1933 to Harry and Leona Barge, she married a serviceman, John Franklin Byrnside, formerly of Charleston, WV, and after many years of military postings, settled and spent most of her adult life in Columbus.

Friends and customers will remember Elaine’s smiling face from her many years working as the office manager for the family business, Chemseal Asphalt Maintenance. She was a devout Lutheran and served in many church organizations and activities at the local, state, and regional levels.

Elaine was foremost a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Hers was a very happy home where everyone was welcomed with warmth and love.

Mrs. Byrnside is preceded in death by her son, David Daniel Byrnside, her parents, and brother, Norman Barge.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 67years, John, Children Henry and wife Nina of Locust Grove, VA, Deborah Algarin and husband Carlos of Cataula, Joseph of Ozark, AL, Michael of Columbus, Rochelle of Chaptico, MD; Grandchildren Daniel Byrnside and wife Amanda of Charleston, SC, Rebecca Cook and husband Bobby of Fredericksburg, VA, Victor Algarin and wife Elizabeth of Columbus, Sarah Everist and husband Tyler of Santa Barbara, CA, Sabrina Guy and husband Trevor of California, MD, Nicole Padgett and husband William of Leonardtown, MD, Alison Burkhard and husband Matthew of Weeki Wachee, FL, and Danielle Hoffman of Chaptico, MD; Twelve great grandchildren; Brothers Warren Barge and wife MaryAnn of Greenwood, AR, Ralph Barge and wife Melba of Damascus, AR; Sisters Doris Weatherford of Seffner, FL, Margaret Motely and husband Allan of Pottsville, AR; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

A memorial service will be held at Noon, November 13, 2021, at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 4700 Armour Road, Columbus, GA 31904.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations in her name to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
