Elaine Towns Alexander

To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven. (Eccl.3:1)

A TIME TO BE BORN:  Lillian Elaine Towns Alexander was born October 16, 1944 in Berlin, Alabama to the late Samuel Towns and Ernestine Gunn.

A TIME TO LEARN: Elaine was educated in the school systems of Selma, Alabama and Detroit, Michigan.

A TIME TO WORK:  Prior to enlisting in the United States Army, Elaine planted her roots training as a nurse at the first, black hospital in Alabama’s John A. Andrew Memorial Hospital--then located in Tuskegee, Alabama.  She was also employed as a nurse at the Tuskegee Veterans Administration Hospital in Tuskegee, Alabama.  Following this, her career led her to be employed at several military installations around the world over a 40-year period.  Some installations include the following:  Fort Rucker in Alabama, Fort Sam Houston in Texas, Nurnberg in Germany, Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.  She ended her career in retirement at Martin Army Community Hospital in Fort Benning, Georgia.
A TIME TO LOVE:  In 1980, Elaine married Thomas Alexander who preceded her in death on December 7, 2020.  The team became known to many as Mr. and Mrs. “A.”  The Alexanders would go on to raise two children (Henry and Michelle) and make countless friends close enough to embrace as family.  To know her was to love her!  During her time on earth, Elaine enjoyed church activities, traveling, reading, crafting ceramics, gardening, cooking and the occasional spades game with the dearest of friends.

A TIME TO DIE:  On Friday, April 9, 2021 at Columbus Hospice, she heard the Savior’s voice say, “You have fought a good fight, you have finished your course and you have kept the Faith –I have prepared a place for you. Come on home.”  She leaves the following to cherish her loving memory:  Henry and Michelle, grand children (Julian, Ashlee, Asya, De’Von, Shanice, Jazmin, Damien, Alexander and Jaxon), great-grand children (Kingston and Kyson), other loving relatives and friends.

Following the service, internment will be at 2:00 PM EDT, Thursday , April 22, 2021 at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.

There will be a repass held @ Ambassadors of Christ Fellowship, 4817 Milgen Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907, following the internment.
