Edward S. (Ted) Walters, Jr., 96, of Columbus, Ga. died Tuesday, June 19th at The Landings of Columbus assisted living facility.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 23, 2018 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor David Hardwick, of Gentian Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be held in Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens Ocala, FL. where he will be laid to rest next to his wife. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ted was born October 15, 1921 in Munising, MI. son of the late Edward S. and Una Simon Walters, Sr. Ted moved to Columbus in 2005 from Ocala, where he and his wife Edna lived for 19 years after moving from Miami, FL. He was a retired iron worker and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed working in his yard and tending his large vegetable garden.
Other than his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his wife Edna P. Sheley Walters and son Edward S. (Ted) Walters, III.
Survivors include his daughters Marie E. Gilliland, Columbus, GA. and Barbara L. Walters, Ponte Vedra, FL.; one grandson, John E. Gilliland and his wife Wendy and two great grandchildren, Megan and Rylie Gilliland all of San Antonio, TX.
