Mr. Davis was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

A man of service and dedication, Mr. Davis began his career as an electrician working on shipbuilding projects in Norfolk, Virginia. At just 17 years old, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Guam and the Philippines. Following his military service, he embarked on a long and respected career as a firefighter with civil service, starting at Graham Air Base in Marianna, Florida. His journey in firefighting took him to Fort Eustis, Virginia, and ultimately to Fort Benning, Georgia, where he rose to the rank of station captain.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Davis was a man of deep faith, integrity, and generosity. A longtime Master Mason and a dedicated member of the Columbian Masonic Lodge, he earned the distinguished 33rd degree in the Valley of Columbus Scottish Rite Temple. His passion for helping others extended beyond his career---he was known for mentoring men struggling with addiction, guiding them toward recovery and a renewed sense of purpose.

Many in Columbus, Georgia, remember Mr. Davis for his expertise and honesty in running Davis Volkswagen Repair on Brennan Road. His reputation as a skilled mechanic with a straightforward approach made him a sough-after figure in the community. He also devoted many years to coaching Little League baseball at the East Columbus Little League fields on Morris Road, sharing his love for the sport with countless young players.

A man of steadfast faith, Mr. Davis was an active member of Fairview Baptist Church and Norris Road Baptist Church before joining Evangel Temple, where he worshipped in his later years.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Virginia Daniels Davis, and his daughter, Sandra Davis Boswell of Columbus, Georgia.
