Earl Agee, a beloved husband, devoted father, and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 in Columbus, GA. Born in Appomattox, VA, to Clarence A. Agee and Margie Cheatham Agee, Earl lived a life rooted in faith, guided by integrity, and devoted to his family, church, and community.
A memorial service will be held on 3 May at 11:00 AM at Bedford Baptist Church, 1516 Oakwood St, Bedford, VA, followed by a graveside service at 3:00 PM at Liberty Cemetery in Appomattox, VA, according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3974 Gentian Blvd Columbus, GA 31907.
A proud 1958 graduate of Virginia Tech and U.S. Army veteran, Earl dedicated over 35 years to General Electric in Lynchburg, VA, where his reputation for hard work and integrity endures with those who worked alongside him.
For over five decades, Earl and his wife, Winnie, made their home in Appomattox, VA, before later settling in Bedford, VA, and eventually Columbus, GA, to be closer to family. Throughout his life, Earl was a steadfast source of strength and kindness, always leading with wisdom, encouragement, and an unwavering commitment to his faith in Jesus Christ.
Above all, Earl’s greatest joy was his family. He shared sixty-four wonderful years of marriage with his loving wife, Winifred Lee “Winnie” Agee, and was a devoted father to sons Ed and his wife Peggy, Phillip and his wife Shannon, and Jeff and his wife Heather. His legacy continues through his children, six grandchildren—Elizabeth, Earl, Kristin, Matthew, Tilden, and Charlotte—and four great-grandchildren, along with the many lives he touched with his warmth, humor, and steadfast spirit.
Earl was a devoted member of Bedford Baptist Church for over 20 years, serving as a Deacon and cherishing the worship, fellowship, and friendships within his church family. He lived out his faith through selfless acts of kindness, always willing to lend a hand, offer words of encouragement, and share the love of Christ. Earl also accompanied the youth group on service projects and was a passionate Sunday school teacher for both adult and youth classes, inspiring others with his wisdom and unwavering faith. A verse that beautifully reflects his life is Matthew 25:23: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Earl’s love, laughter, and unwavering guidance will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though his absence is deeply felt, we rejoice in the knowledge that he is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.
