Edith Ann (Maddox) Wilkins

Edith Anne Maddox Wilkins, 92, of Columbus, GA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at her residence.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday November 16th at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery with Chaplain Allison Owen officiating.  The procession will be leaving McMullen Funeral home at 11AM.

Edith was born February 4, 1929 in Sunnyside, GA to the late Phil Russell Maddox and Mittie Belle Godard Maddox.    Edith was married to LTC (ret) Thomas C. Wilkins, Jr. They were married for 45 years prior to his passing in 1997. Edith was a beloved wife and mother. She traveled the world with her husband. They were owners of Wilkins Antiques for many years. Edith was an accomplished artist who exhibited in art shows and galleries in Texas and Georgia. She was a consummate gardener in her latter years, and planted thousands of flowers in her yard. Her energy, creativity, spirit and determination was boundless. Edith was a very kind soul and she will be greatly missed and loved, by the extended family

Survivors include her children, Tom Wilkins of Columbus, GA, Tina Wilkins of Columbus, GA; Bob Wilkins (Lori) of Waverly Hall, GA; grandchildren, Kevin Wilkins of California, Greg Wilkins of Colorado, Kason Wilkins (Kaitlen) of Columbus, GA, Kory Wilkins (Tera) of Columbus, GA, Isabella Wilkins (William) of Hickson, TN; great grandchildren, Caden Wilkins, Kirsten Wilkins, and Hanna Wilkins and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Thom Wilkins (son) for his invaluable help as Edith’s primary caregiver for her last years. The family would also like to thank Columbus Hospice for their kindness, love, support and compassion toward making mom’s final days the best they could be. Their excellent service was much appreciated, especially Lynda Lowe and Nikole Waters
