On Sunday, April 8, Edda J. (Midkiff) Tinker, passed away in her sleep at her home at RiverPlace retirement community.

Born July 13, 1925 in Raleigh County, West Virginia, to Edward Midkiff and Josie Via Midkiff, she was the 4th of 9 children. A coal miner's daughter, she became a true part of history as a Rosie the Riveter in WWII, assembling B-25 & B-29 bombers, and repairing those damaged in action overseas. She worked for A & P food stores for ten years as a cashier and accountant. June met her husband, Sgt. Billy T. Tinker, through her sister Hope. In the 60's, June was a mother of three children, an accountant at Ft. Benning, and master of home cooking. For extra income, she sewed Girl Scout uniforms for local troops.

After retiring from Civil Service, she traveled through Australia, Greece, Rome, and Germany. In her 70's, she performed security duties at two Super Bowls. Mrs. Tinker entered and won the title of Ms. Sr. Columbus 2005. As a result, she was inducted into the Classic Club and joined their performing group, "The Golden Divas", which provided another outlet for her many talents.

Also, in this period, she kept up her lifelong love of singing and playing with the Ding-A-Lings, a small group of retirees who play at hospitals and retirement homes. Even up until a few months ago, Mrs. Tinker entertained the other residents at RiverPlace with an occasional set of guitar, autoharp, and yodeling.

Mrs. Tinker is predeceased by her husband, Billy T. Tinker, and daughter Katherine "Tiny" Stroup. She is survived by a daughter, Deanna Trotter, and a son, Billy R. Tinker; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
