Earl Eugene "Gene" Blackwell, Jr., 45, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Wellstar Douglas Hospital in Douglasville, GA after a lengthy illness.
Cryptside services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 4, 2011 at the Chapel of The Pines Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery with Father George Gonzales officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Gene was born October 7, 1965 in Columbus, GA son of Mildred Brewer Blackwell of Columbus, GA and the late Earl Eugene Blackwell, Sr. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School and was the 1983 Graduate of Pacelli High School. He attended CVCC, Columbus State University and Troy State University.
Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Cecil C. Brewer, Sr., grandmother, Flora S. Brewer, and uncle, Cecil C. Brewer, Jr.
Survivors include his mother, Mildred Brewer Blackwell of Columbus, GA, wife, Charlene Blackwell of Columbus, GA, two sons, Brandon Michael Blackwell of Anniston, AL, Jonathan David Blackwell of Douglasville, GA, one daughter, Stephanie Nicole Avery of Columbus, GA, one sister, Regina Blackwell Lopez (Carlos) of Columbus, GA, aunts and uncles, Melinda Brewer Crawford (Patrick), Angela Mann Collom (Paul), Jose Mann (Maria Eugenia) and Sharon Elhard, nieces and nephews, Lance Norton, Lauren Norton, Peter Bagarella, Jr., Carlos J. Lopez, Marco A. Lopez, and a host of family members and loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to your favorite charity.
