Earl "Bud" Blankenship, 71, of Columbus, GA died Monday, March 21, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Aaron Baldridge officiating. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Blankenship was born January 11, 1940 in Henry Co., AL son of the late Acey and Inez Cook Blankenship. He was the owner of Blankenship Plumbing and a member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie Blankenship and Raymond Blankenship and his sisters, Mary Alice Wood and Ruth Saules.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Gaynelle Turner Blankenship of Columbus, GA, two daughters, Kim Flake (Kenny) of Columbus, GA and Terri Myers of Hillard, FL, son, Chris Blankenship of Columbus, GA, two sisters, Martha "Sally" Sands of Phenix City, AL and Lillian Watson (Jeff) of Skiperville, AL, five brothers, Ray Blankenship (Matha) of Ft. Mitchell, AL, Charles Blankenship (Barbara) of Seattle, WA, Lonnie Blankenship (Marie) of Skiperville, AL, William Blankenship (Liz) of Headland, AL and Homer Blankenship (Shirley) of Abbeville, AL, three grandchildren, Jonathan Szot, Kendall Flake and Michael Carter, and one great grandchild, Makenlee Szot.
