Earl Lee Allen, III, 63 of West Point died Friday, December 30, 2011 at LaGrange Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA with Dr. Mike Knowles officiating. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Allen was born November 21, 1948 in Ft. Benning, GA son of the late Ret. Col. O. S. Allen and Mary Moore Allen. He grew up working in the family floor covering business and later worked in the Oil Industry, co-owning Gunn Wire Line and Team Snubbing.
He was proud of being an Army Reserve Medic. He was an avid sportsman and hunter. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Pete Allen.
Survivors include his daughter, Brittney Allen Meyer (Michael); granddaughter, Julianne Lea Meyer all of Troy, AL; sister, Susan Allen Sadler (Jack) of Aiken, SC; brother, Forrest Allen (Sandy) of Columbus, GA; nieces and nephews, Stephanie Alford (Brian), Laurie Byrne (Kevin), Patrick Allen (Carolyn), J. T. Sadler, Callie Sadler and Blair Allen; several grand nephews and many special friends.
Flowers will be accepted, but those who wish may make memorial contributions to any Organ Donation Association of your choice.
