Durwood Wayne Williamson, 66, of Cataula, GA died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday December 19, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Dr. Don Wilhite officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Williamson was born July 3, 1949 in Columbus, GA son of the late Dorsey and Peggy Leonard Williamson. He retired from the Civil Service as a Butcher at the Ft. Benning Commissary and later was a housing clerk with family housing at Ft. Benning.
Mr. Williamson was a U.S. Army Veteran and a former deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gwen Blanton Williamson.
Survivors include his wife, Kristi Miles Williamson of Cataula, GA, two sons, Dustin (Shannon) Williamson and Brent (Maggie) Williamson all of Fortson, GA, one step- daughter, Kara (Lake) Brakefield of Columbus, GA, one step- son, Miles Holton of Columbus, GA, two brothers, Larry Williamson of Columbus, GA and Ray Williamson of Cusseta, GA, and four loving grandchildren, Abigail, Karolyn, Benjamin and Blanchard.
