Born on August 12, 1938, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Chapin dedicated his life to healing, serving, and cherishing his loved ones. His legacy is imbued with the profound impact he had on his family, his patients, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Chapin's journey of education and service began with an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, followed by Seminary at Emory University. His passion for medicine led him to the University of Florida's Medical School, where he honed his skills to become a distinguished OBGYN. Over the span of his career, Dr. Henley delivered more than 5,000 babies and was a pioneer in women's health, performing the first laparoscopic hysterectomy in Georgia.

Beyond his professional achievements, Chapin's heart was always with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sally Henley; son, Matt Henley; daughter, Elizabeth Hipps; and sons, Adam and Russell Henley. Though predeceased by his son Drew, Chapin's memory will continue to be honored and cherished by his children.

In 2001, Chapin's profound sense of responsibility to his community led him to found the Macon Volunteer Clinic, offering free healthcare to the working uninsured of Macon-Bibb County.

Chapin's zest for life extended well beyond his professional and philanthropic endeavors. He was a talented artist and avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting, fishing, and camping. His love for the natural world was only surpassed by his devotion to his wife, children, and grandchildren.

As a lifelong Rotarian, Chapin upheld the values of fellowship and "Service Above Self." His commitment to volunteering with organizations like Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together was a testament to his belief in the power of community.

He was a man of integrity, generosity, and kindness, touching the lives of countless individuals through both his medical practice and his charitable work. His many friends will remember him for his humor, his compassionate spirit, and his readiness to lend a hand or a listening ear.

As we bid farewell to Dr. Chapin Henley, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by an enduring legacy of care and community service and dedication to family and friends.
