Dorothy (Dot) George Miles passed away at her residence on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the age of 80.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, December 10, 2020 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Kevin Calhoun officiating. Interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Those who are unable to attend the services may watch live beginning at 2:00 PM at www.mcmullenfuneralhome.com

In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 facemasks and social distancing will be enforced for those attending the funeral and visitation.

She was born on June 4, 1940 in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late Charles Dudley and Pluma Reece George. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Betty Gibson, Harolyn Hunt, and Sue Fox, all from Columbus, GA and brother Charles George, Harrisonville, MO.

She grew up in Columbus, GA and was a graduate of Jordan High School.  She was a devoted Mom, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and Aunt.  Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she spent endless hours choosing the perfect gifts for her family and friends.  Her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews were the recipients of her unconditional love.  She spent many days with her sisters planning and hosting family events, showers and weddings.Her life was filled with acts of kindness and generosity to those she knew and those she didn’t.

Known for her unparalleled work ethic, Dot spent her 32 year career as a Supervisor for the United States Bankruptcy Court, Middle District of Georgia in Columbus.

She is survived by her 5 children, Dee Owens (Keith), Genia Webb and Kristi Miles Williamson of Columbus, GA, daughter, Patti Lawler (Phillip) of Lake Forest, CA and son Jeffrey Miles (Ashley) of Anderson, S.C., sisters Rachel Hinton (Buddy) of Columbus, GA, Ellen Torbett of Jacksonville, FL.

She was known as “Dit Dot” and “Grandma” to her 12 grandchildren: Missi Jones (Shane), Josh Woodham, Jeffrey Lawler, Brett Lawler, PhilLawler, Jr. (Loni), Brandon Webb (Caitlin), Gracie Webb, Kara Brakefield (Lake), Miles Holton, Erica Rowland (Jay), Mackenzie Miles, Reece Miles and 13 great grandchildren: Lillie, Ellie, Wyatt, Bradley, Cosette, Lexi, Hunter,Stella, Logan, Karolyn, Blanchard, Emma, Jayden.
