Dorothy Earline Allen, 86, of Ellerslie, GA, died Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Roosevelt Place in Warm Springs, GA.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, December 5, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Scott Tucker officiating. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Allen was born February 8, 1928 in Phenix City, AL, daughter of the late William Eugene Sturges and Rosa Lee Clegg. She was a dietician for the Muscogee County School District and was a member of Crystal Valley Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel M. Allen; 4 sisters, Sylvia Phillips, Evelyn Stanbro, Edna Hutcherson, Verne Esco; 6 brothers, Roland Sturges, Thurmond Sturges, Lowell Sturges, Gerneral Sturges, Herbert Sturges, and Malon Sturges.
Survivors include her son, Gregory Allen (Frances) of Ellerslie, GA; 2 grandsons, Gregory Allen, Jr. (Kendall) of Hamilton, GA and Joshua Allen of Columbus, GA; 3 great-grandchildren, Kensington Grace Allen, Gunner Wayne Allen, and Thomas Flint Allen all of Hamilton, GA; and her beloved pet, Nala.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Columbus Hospice House Staff at Roosevelt Place in Warm Springs, GA.
