Donnie Wayne Edwards

Donnie Wayne Edwards, Sr, 74, of Ellaville, GA died Friday, May 17, 2024 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, May 24, 2024 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Dan Jones officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery following the service.

Donnie was born April 25, 1950 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Troy Edwards and Effie Pearl Edwards. Donnie was a Columbus native who graduated from Jordan High School in 1968. He was man of faith who spent many years as a deacon and committed much of his time to the church. He also served as a singer and a drummer to many gospel groups. He spent much of his extracurricular time volunteering and riding with the Patriot Guard Riders. He also enjoyed camping, bowling, woodworking and spending time outdoors. Donnie was a dedicated family man who loved spending time with all of his family members but most of all loved making precious memories with his grandchildren.

Other than his parents, Donnie is preceded in death by wife, Esther Burns Edwards.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Edwards of Ellaville, GA; children, Eric Edwards (Angela) of Nolensville, TN, Donnie Edwards, Jr. (Randi) of Fortson, GA, Erika Vowell (Thomas) of Cataula, GA; grandchildren, Landon Edwards, Kaley Grace Edwards, Sydney Edwards, Elsie Edwards, Ryleigh Edwards, Cambree Edwards, Cassie Vowell, Kennedi Vowell, Kinlee Vowell, Levi Vowell; his bonus family includes children, Traci Jones (Dan) of Ellaville, GA, Tim Fields (Katina) of Ellaville, GA; grandchildren, Ashleigh Mitchell (Ryan), Abel Jones (Shellby), Hannah Fields (Nick), Haleigh Fields, TJ Fields, Lynsie Turville; great grandchild, Charleigh Ann Mitchell; siblings, Carol Jones (Roger), Ricky Edwards (Laura), Diane Stankard (Ken), Ronnie Edwards; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
