Don Don was born February 20, 1963 in Columbus, GA to the late Donald Ray Cook, Sr. and Dot Elkins Torbic. Don Don truly had a trio of 1st loves….his son, his mom and racing. Hero changed his life and everyone who knew him knew that nothing compared to that love. His dad’s passing was very hard on him. The love for his mom has always been strong…she still babied him and he returned that favor. Oh yes, racing. It began with motor cross and graduated to fast cars. Signing on to help sponsor his car almost always guaranteed a first place finish or two. Many will remember his brush with death at 18 when his street bike was hit by a car and exploded. For him, nothing could have been more excruciating pain than he experienced then. He had to have the strongest will to live that many men could not have overcome but he did. He still lived hard and played even harder. His families whether blood or adopted were very important to him.
