Donald Ray Cook, Sr., 78, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at The Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Don Wilhite and Reverend Aaron Baldridge officiating. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Cook was born August 18, 1932 in Columbus, GA son of the late Leonard and Montee Hancock Grier. He was the owner of Cook Finance for 31 years where it has been located for over 60 years in Uptown Columbus. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and a member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Earline Whitehead Cook of Columbus, GA, son, Donald Cook, Jr. "Don-Don" of Fortson, GA, two daughters, Lisa Cook Slaughter (Sam) of Cataula, GA and Debbie Davis of Columbus, GA, stepchildren, Steve Langston, Sharon Langston both of Columbus, GA, Brian Langston (Wendy) and Alan Langston (Patty) all of Valley, AL, one brother, Gerald Greer of Sarasota, FL, grandchildren, April Monk and her fiancé, Richard Ward, Stephanie Slaughter, Ashley Storey, Kyle Langston, Jessica Smith, Dylon Smith, Keith Davis, Chris Davis, Kevin Kirkland, Kristen Kirkland and Matthew Cole Nix, three great grandchildren, Taylor Cogdill, Kaylan Moudy and Aidan Davis, his first wife and beloved mother of his children and grandchildren, Dot Torbic, one special love, his puppy "Georgia", and the most loved house keeper, "Judy".
He was a wonderful man who helped many in need.
