Donald "Don" G. Burleson

Donald “Don” G. Burleson, 80 of Phenix City, Alabama died Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Columbus Hospice House.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Georgia 31907 with Rev. Mike McBride officiating. Interment will be held in Parkhill cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, we encourage everyone to make the best decisions to remain safe. If anyone wishes to attend the either of the services, please remember to remain 6 feet apart from those not in your household and wear personal protective equipment.

Don was born January 7, 1940 in Fortson, Georgia son of the late Thomas Chapman Burleson and Mattie Adele Rush Burleson. He retired from Sears and Roebuck after 32 years, was owner and operator of Sur-Vac, and was a funeral assistant at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, a Sheriff Bailiff and a driver at Ft. Benning. Don loved to work and enjoyed all the job positions he had.

He was a member of Trinity Assembly of God, a masonic member of the Midland Lodge where he was Past Master and also was a Shriner. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Robbie Burleson of Phenix City Al, daughter, Cindy Fussell (Joel) Columbus, GA, son, Ricky Burleson and fiancee Catherine Bennett of Phenix City, AL, sister, Janelle Wyatt of Columbus, GA, Robbie Lou Burdett (Donnell) of Fortson, GA, brother, Dennis Burleson of Midland, GA, two grandchildren, Candace Burleson, Lance Fussell, numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
