Dona C. Carty

Dona C. Carty, 80 of Columbus, Georgia died Monday April 12, 2021 at his residence.

A memorial service will be held 2 PM, Monday, April 19, 2021 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA. 31907 with Pastor Paul Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Dona was born March 21, 1941 in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late Chester and Helen Carpenter Carty.

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Gus Carty, Wayne Carty, Dealis Arnett, and Daryl Ray Carty; sisters, Imagene Carty, and Anna Mae Yarber.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran. After returning from  Germany, he began his career with the Civil Service at Fort Benning, Georgia where he worked for 30 years in the Supply Division. Dona was a member of the Mason Hamilton Lodge #16 F&AM for 50 years. He was an avid outdoorsman. His passion was hunting and fishing, but greater than all he was a proud husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Janet Perry Carty; daughter, Jennifer Carty Hudson of Harris County, GA.; son, Nigel Carty (Bronwyn) of Pine Mountain, GA.; grandchildren, Carty Dickson, Mary Frances Bailey (Gauge), Luke Carty, John Carty, and  Kate Carty of Columbus, GA. ; brothers, Charles D Carty (Velva), J.D. Carty (Brenda), Adron Carty (Teresa), Lester Carty, and James Carty, sisters, Ilene Carty, and Maxine Carty; sisters-in-law, Marie Arnett, Joyce Carty, and many nieces and nephews.
