Don "Buck" Weaver, Jr, 62, of Cataula, GA died Friday, June 24, 2011 at UAB Hospital, Birmingham, AL.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Rollins officiating. The following will serve as pallbearers, Robby Weaver, Wesley Weaver, Brooks Ward, Sam Weaver, Josh Faircloth, Brandon Faircloth, Jonathan Powell, Ryan Powell and Michael McMahon. There will be a private interment at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mr. Weaver was born August 13, 1948 in Columbus, GA son of the late Ralph D. Weaver, Sr. and Carolyn Ellison Weaver. He was a graduate of Jordan High School and was a member of St. Peter United Methodist Church. He was a U. S. Army veteran of Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart. Mr. Weaver retired after 36 years as a lineman with Georgia Power. He was a member of I.B.E.W. Local Union 84. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Bruce Weaver.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Weaver of Cataula, GA; son, Donnie Weaver (Kimberly) of Hamilton, GA; daughter, Lori Weaver Garrett (Edward) of Waverly Hall, GA; stepdaughter, Leslie Bottoms of Columbus, GA; stepson, Brian Bottoms of Cataula, GA; brother, Robert Weaver (Beverly) of Midland, GA; and grandchildren, Taylor Garrett, Lexie Garrett, Luke Weaver and Clay Weaver.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Peter United Methodist Church Building Fund, 6507 Moon Rd., Columbus, GA 31909, or UAB Liver Center, 1802 6th Ave., Birmingham, AL 35249.
