Dolores Cutter Long, 71, of Columbus, GA returned to her heavenly home after a valiant battle with a long long-term illness. Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Medical Center. She had an unwavering faith in God.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Long was born October 6, 1946 in Chattanooga, TN daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Ringer Cutter. She graduated from Nursing training from Florida Sanitarium Hospital in Orlando, FL.
Dolores was married to Douglas Long for 51 years, during their time together they traveled the world. Places they lived and visited include the Philippines, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Paris France. And in the States, they lived in Orlando Florida, Montgomery Alabama, Washington DC, and Columbus Georgia.
Dolores was a devoted and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and was excited to become a "Grandma" to her grandchildren. She loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She would spend hours cooking and preparing for her company.
Dolores was known for her feisty, yet good sense of humor. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Douglas Michael Long, Sr. of Columbus, GA, children, Douglas Long, Jr. (Barbara) of Olive Branch, TN, Richard Long (Amy) of Savannah, GA and Tammy Foster of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Brandon Foster of Columbus, GA and Madelyn Long of Savannah, GA, and brother, Charles Cutter of Murfreesboro, TN.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org.
