Derek Scott Swenson Sr.

Derek Scott Swenson Sr., 53, passed away on September 29, 2024, in Georgia after a courageous battle with ALS.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 6, 2024 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Tony Cribb and Rev. Dr. Richard Washington officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM, Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. A private interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.

Derek was born on May 21, 1971, in Massachusetts, his life was marked by commitment, strength, and dedication. Derek served in the U.S. Army for over 24 years, building a distinguished career through honor and service. After retiring, he transitioned to real estate, becoming a respected and trusted professional who made a significant impact on his clients.

Derek is survived by his wife, Danielle Swenson; daughters, Kailee Rawls, Ashlee Swenson, and Simone Swenson; and his son, Derek Swenson Jr. He also leaves behind his parents, Dennis and Linda White, brother Garth Swenson, grandchildren, and many relatives and friends who will cherish his memory. An avid sports fan, Derek's love for the Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics was rivaled only by his dedication to his family. His legacy of service, discipline, and leadership continued through his work in real estate and in the values he instilled in his children.
