Dee Ann Aliff Wheaton, 86, of Columbus, GA died peacefully at her residence Sunday, October 11, 2015.
Funeral Services will be held 11:30 AM EST, Friday, October 16, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907 with the Reverend Michael T. Stiggers, Sr., M. Div. officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 10 to 11:30 AM Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery at 1:30 PM EST.
Mrs. Wheaton was born October 7, 1929 in Whitby, West Virginia, daughter to the late Bert Calvin Aliff and Mildred Halstead Aliff. She was a homemaker; but, found time to work at Prudential Securities and AFLAC. She was a past member of Morningside Baptist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Among one of her proudest achievements was the book she wrote titled James Halstead, Pioneer of Indian Creek.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, LTC (Ret.) James Russell Wheaton.
Survivors include her daughters, Anita Jackson (James) of Columbus, GA and Carmen Cockerham of Okeechobee, FL, grand children, Kyle Jackson, Shanna Cockerham and Adam Parish along with two great grandchildren, Ryan and Ryver Parish and a brother, James H. Aliff, Highlands, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Rescue Mission, 2903 2nd Avenue, Columbus, GA 31906.
