Ms. Deborah “Debbie” Dobbs Harrelson, 70, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022 in Newnan, Georgia, where she was hospitalized. At the time of her death, she was surrounded by her loving family.

A celebration of her life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Living Grace United Methodist Church, 3969 Edgewood Circle Columbus, Georgia with Reverend Haynes Martin officiating, according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd Columbus, GA 31907.

Ms. Harrelson was born April 15, 1952, in Atlanta, Georgia, daughter of the late Mr. Jack Leon Dobbs of Loachapoka, Alabama and the late Mrs. Clara Ellen Towery Dobbs of Opelika, Alabama. Ms. Harrelson worked in many different settings throughout the years. She was a hotel desk clerk at the Heart of Columbus Hotel and the Martinique Motor Hotel; at the latter, she was able to enjoy meeting many famous guests. She later worked at two local television stations, WXTX and WLTZ, and, eventually, at Horizons Diagnostics in Columbus, Georgia, from where she was able to retire. She enjoyed working with all the people around her.

Ms. Harrelson enjoyed camping, boating, shopping, and most of all, spending time with her friends and family, especially her niece, Emily, from whom she acquired the endearing nickname, “Bobo.” Emily was her pride and joy. Ms. Harrelson was devoted to her companion of over 20 years, Mr. Jerry Griffin. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her late husband, Mr. Ike Harrelson.

She is survived by her life partner, Jerry Griffin; her sister, Mary Ellen Wright; her niece, Emily Earnest; her stepchildren; and numerous cousins and friends.
