David Allen Murphy

David Allen Murphy, 86, also known as Daddy, PawPaw, Papa, and Pop, of Waverly Hall, GA went to be with Jesus Saturday, February 23, 2019 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 28, 2019 at New Vision Christian Ministries 8132 GA-85 Waverly Hall, GA 31831 with Rev. Glenn Presley officiating. Interment will be held at Waverly Hall City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Murphy was born November 10, 1932 in LaGrange, GA son of the late Otis D. Murphy and Ellen Presley Murphy. He worked as a Machinist at Lummus Industries and was a Pentecostal by faith.
In his early years, David enjoyed fishing, his horse, gardening, and outdoor activities. Reading the Bible and listening to music has always been his favorite hobby even through his final days. David enjoyed going to church and after the service he handed out lollipops to all the children, even when the children visited the house they never left empty-handed. David impacted everyone's life that he met whether you knew him for a short time or your whole life. David was very proud of his family and loved spending time with them.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sula Claire Murphy, brothers, Curtis Murphy and Walter (Francis) Murphy, sisters, Ruby Melton and Nora Mae (Robert) Presley, granddaughter, Erika Marie Murphy, and son-in-law, Patrick Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Cornelia Carter Murphy, son, Hank (Patricia) Murphy, daughters, Marie (Chris) Griggs, Judy (Dewey) Smith, Susan (John) Storey and Barbara Johnson, step-daughter, Judy (Danny) Folds and step-son, Deon (Mary) Griswold, sister Elleen Riles, grandchildren, Kenneth (Tina) Terry, Angela (Chris) Capes, Brian Griggs, Christy (Mike) McKillip, Robert (Amy) Smith, Lora (Hasan) Turk, Gary Taylor, Jeremiah (Amber) Murphy, Jennifer (Matthew) Henson, and Daniel Phillips, 23 great-grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren, along with his precious niece, Connie Macy, and precious nephew, Glenn Presley with several other nieces and nephews.
