David Summers Kinsey, II, 57, of Temple, GA, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica, GA.
A visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 PM on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907.
He was born on December 2, 1965, in Key West, FL to the late David Kinsey and Sharon Willis Nelson. David honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for 13 years as an Aircraft Communication and Cryptographic Systems Technician. His service included deployments in Angeles City, Philippines, and Okinawa, Japan. David received the following decorations and medals: Good Conduct Medal with 3 Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit, Commendation Medal with 1 Star, Navy Achievement Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with 3 Stars, Meritorious Mast (3), and Letter of Appreciation (2). After his service, he worked as a manager for AT&T for 24 years and as a fierce warrior in World of Warcraft alongside his wife for 15 years.
David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and was always learning a new skill, like pasta making, gardening, creating jewelry, and woodworking. David enjoyed going on adventures with his wife and telling her to stop buying more plants. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Edna Kinsey of Temple, GA; children, Mayonna Bevard (Justin) of Winder, GA, Michelle Hatfield-Cañas (Haley) of Winder, GA, Daniel Kinsey (Taylor) of Ochlocknee, GA, and Sharon Bullard (Richard) of Thomasville, GA; sister, Jennifer Miller (James Oliver) of Pensacola, FL; 12 grandchildren; and many other loved ones. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Cotton Kinsey.
