David Richard Anderson, 83, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at his home.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 PM Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Pastor Judy Hay officiating. The family will have a reception at the Hidden Lake Clubhouse 2525 Norris Rd. Columbus, GA 31907 at 5:30 PM following the memorial service.
Mr. Anderson was born June 11, 1935 in Washington, D.C. son of the late William George Anderson and Wilma Meyer Anderson. He was a 1953 graduate of Columbus High School, graduated from the University of Maryland in Heidelberg, Germany and retired after 20 years from the U.S. Navy in Naval Intelligence. Mr. Anderson was a Georgia Tech fan and loved watching baseball especially the New York Yankees. He also loved golf.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Crista Philippi Anderson, second wife, Linda Guthrey Anderson, and sister, Ruth Dillon.
Survivors include his daughters, Susan T. Anderson of Falls Church, VA and Karen-Maria Conforti and son-in-law Ken Conforti of Portland, OR, brothers-in-law Jim Dillon of Atlanta, GA, Skeeter Guthrey and Darrell Guthrey of Columbus, GA and sisters-in-law, LaFawn Johnpeer, Carol Guthrey Foley, Angie Dudley and a host of relatives and friends, especially Dal Jenkins and Frank Davis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Phenix City Senior Center 1500 14th St. Phenix City, AL 36869.
