Dartha "Mama Dot" Gay Patterson, 86, of Columbus, GA died Monday, July 29, 2013 at her residence.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Eastwood Baptist Church, 5051 Buena Vista Rd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Reverend J. Michael Heath officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mama Dot was born January 29, 1927 in Chipley, FL daughter of the late Willie Edgar Gay and Eva White Gay. She worked in Columbus at 4th National Bank, J.C. Penny's and retired from the Woodall Psychoeducational Center as a Program Evaluator.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Patterson, brother, Edgar Gay, Jr., sister, Mavis Bounds, sons, Baby Ellis and James Theron Chadwick, daughter, Carolyn Williams, grandson, Tommy Evans, and great granddaughter, Donna Nicole Clack.
Survivors include her sister, Eunice Oates, daughters, Donna Ellis Gray of Phenix City, AL, Susan Ellis Heath of Columbus, GA and Tammy Evans-Moore of Smiths, AL, son, Michael Patterson of Birmingham, AL, 8 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Eastwood Baptist Church Building Fund or Gentiva Hospice of Columbus 100 Brookstone Ctr. Parkway Columbus, GA 31904.
