Daniel Clyde Newsome

Daniel Clyde Newsome, 85, of Phenix City, AL, died Monday, January 8, 2024 at Columbus Hospice House. A memorial service will be held 4:30 PM Saturday, January 13, 2024 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907, with Rev. Todd Horne officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private interment will be held at Newsome Cemetery in Phenix City, AL.

Daniel was born February 5, 1938 in Phenix City, AL son of the late Alton Otis Newsome, Sr. and Ruby Pearl McCollum Newsome. Daniel was a Godly man, a headstrong driven individual. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He worked in construction for over 50 years. Daniel was a family man, he was the heart of his family. He loved his beloved wife Nellie Kate, children and grandchildren more than life. He will be greatly missed by all of his loved ones.

Other than his parents, Daniel is preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Kate Hagler Newsome and 12 siblings.

Survivors include his children, Dana Eberhardt (Tommy Graf) of Phenix City, AL, Timothy Hestley (Roslyn) of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Jessica Gorman (Bubba) of Phenix City, AL, Johnathan Eberhardt (Naomi) of Columbus, GA, Jordan Eberhardt of Valparaiso, FL, Justin Moss (Courtney Barrick) Smithstation, AL; great grandchildren, Caroline Kate Gorman, Hudson Hayes Gorman, Kayden Lee Hack, Kadence Barrick, Kindle Barrick, Hannah Simpson (Dylan); great great grandchild, Walt Simpson; nephew, Barry Newsome  (Patty) of Hatchechubee, AL; great nephew, Jason Newsome (Dawn) of Hatchechubee, AL; and great great niece, Shelby Newsome of Hatchechubee, AL.
