Daniel M. McKenna, 53, of Columbus, GA, son of LTC(Ret.) Robert & Maureen McKenna, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at his residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Monday, September 29, 2014 at The Church of Holy Family with Father Frank Patterson officiating. A Private Family Interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday followed by a Rosary Service at 6:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
Daniel McKenna was born in Chicago, Illinois, in April 1961. He attended Pacelli High School and Columbus State University in Columbus Georgia. His adventurous life led him to the oil rigs in Louisiana, to the industrial services in San Luis Obispo, CA, and then to the IT business in Tampa FL, Atlanta GA, and then back home to Columbus, GA, where he worked as a Systems Consultant at Delta Data Software, Inc.
Dan was an avid scuba diver, skier, and outdoorsmen, as well as a self-proclaimed "Supreme Leader of the Universe" comedian. Making others laugh was his favorite past-time.
Survivors include his mother, Maureen McKenna of Columbus Ga; brothers, James (Normandy), Robert, Thomas (Ashley) of Columbus GA; sister, Susan (Bobby) Rocha of Huntsville, AL; and his nieces and nephews: Craig (Ashlee), Christopher, Amanda McKenna; Patrick, Kiley, Robbie, Taylor McKenna; and Ian, Mara, Katie McKenna, all of Columbus Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the CPT Patrick M. McKenna Scholorship of The Citadel in Charleston, SC or St. Jude Childrens Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
